Flag
The flag of Malta consists of two vertical stripes—white on the left and red on the right. In the upper left corner of the white stripe is the George Cross, awarded to Malta by King George VI in 1942 for the nation’s bravery during World War II. The red and white colors are historically linked to Count Roger of Sicily, who ruled Malta in the 11th century.
Coat of Arms
The coat of arms displays a shield with the Maltese flag, topped by a mural crown, symbolizing the country’s fortifications. The shield is flanked by an olive branch and a palm branch, representing peace. Beneath the shield, a ribbon carries the inscription “Repubblika ta’ Malta,” meaning “Republic of Malta.” This emblem represents Malta’s strength, peace, and unity.
