Antigua Citizenship for Large Families: Is It the Cheapest in 2026?

Ask which Caribbean citizenship is cheapest and the honest answer depends on how many people are on the application. For one person or a couple, the programs are separated by a few thousand dollars. For a family of six or more the gap becomes tens of thousands, and Antigua and Barbuda is the reason. This guide shows what Antigua costs for families of four to eight, how its two donation options work, and how it compares with Dominica, Grenada and St Kitts.
For families of six or more, yes. Antigua's University of the West Indies (UWI) option costs about $275,300 in government costs for a couple with four young children, against roughly $317,500 to $322,700 in Dominica, Grenada and St Kitts. For a family of four it is not the cheapest: Grenada is about $1,200 lower.
Antigua's two donation options
National Development Fund (NDF)
The NDF contribution is $230,000 for a single applicant or a family of up to four, and no extra contribution is required for the spouse, children or dependent parents you include. What changes with family size is the processing fee: $10,000 for a single applicant, $20,000 for a family of up to four, and a further $10,000 for each additional dependant in a larger family.
University of the West Indies (UWI) Fund
The UWI option is a $260,000 contribution designed for families of six or more. It includes processing fees for a family of six, and each additional dependant from the seventh person adds $10,000. Because the NDF adds processing fees for every person beyond four, the UWI option works out $10,000 cheaper than the NDF for any family of six or more.
Other routes
Antigua also offers real estate from $300,000 and business investment from $1,500,000 for a single investor. Both cost more for most families, so this guide focuses on the two donation options.
Fees on top of the contribution
Due diligence is $8,500 for the main applicant, $5,000 for a spouse, $2,000 for each child aged 12 to 17, and $4,000 for each dependant aged 18 to 30 or dependent parent aged 55 or over. Children under 12 pay no due diligence fee. Each person also pays $300 for a passport.
| Fee | Who pays | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| NDF contribution | Single applicant or family of up to 4 | $230,000 |
| UWI contribution (includes processing for 6 people) | Families of 6 or more | $260,000 |
| Processing fee (NDF) | Single applicant | $10,000 |
| Processing fee (NDF) | Family of up to 4 | $20,000 |
| Processing fee, each additional dependant | NDF beyond 4 people, UWI beyond 6 | $10,000 |
| Due diligence | Main applicant | $8,500 |
| Due diligence | Spouse | $5,000 |
| Due diligence | Each child aged 12–17 | $2,000 |
| Due diligence | Each dependant aged 18–30, or parent aged 55+ | $4,000 |
| Passport | Each person | $300 |
Who can be included
Antigua defines family widely. One application can include a spouse, children up to age 30 who depend on you financially, parents and grandparents aged 55 or over who depend on you, and unmarried siblings. That makes the program well suited to multi-generational families, although every adult you add brings due diligence costs. The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) also publishes separate fees of $10,000 to $50,000 for adding a dependant later, depending on age, so include everyone you expect to add in the original application.
Worked examples: what large families actually pay
The table below uses government costs only, with the NDF for families of up to five and the UWI option from six. Your final figure will also include professional fees, which vary by firm.
| Family | Option | Estimated total |
|---|---|---|
| Couple + 2 children under 12 (family of four) | NDF | ~$264,700 |
| Couple + 2 children aged 12–17 (family of four) | NDF | ~$268,700 |
| Couple + 3 children under 12 (family of five) | NDF | ~$275,000 |
| Couple + 4 children under 12 (family of six) | UWI | ~$275,300 |
| Couple + 2 children under 12 + 2 aged 12–17 (family of six) | UWI | ~$279,300 |
| Couple + 5 children under 12 (family of seven) | UWI | ~$285,600 |
| Couple + 6 children under 12 (family of eight) | UWI | ~$295,900 |
Look at the jump from five people to six: it is only about $300, because the UWI option replaces the NDF's extra processing fees. From there each additional child costs about $10,300, which is $10,000 in processing fees plus $300 for a passport.
How Antigua compares with Dominica, Grenada and St Kitts
The table compares government costs for a couple with children under 12, so no child pays due diligence in any program. Antigua's figure uses the NDF up to five people and the UWI option from six. St Lucia is not included, and the lowest figure in each row is in bold.
| Family size | Antigua | Dominica | Grenada | St Kitts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 people | $264,700 | $266,500 | $263,500 | $271,100 |
| 5 people | $275,000 | $292,000 | $292,500 | $296,900 |
| 6 people | $275,300 | $317,500 | $321,500 | $322,700 |
| 7 people | $285,600 | $343,000 | $350,500 | $348,500 |
The pattern is clear. At four people the programs sit within about $7,600 of each other and Grenada is marginally the cheapest. At five people Antigua's NDF is about $17,000 cheaper than the next program. At six and seven people Antigua is $42,200 to $57,400 cheaper than the next-cheapest option.
What Antigua does not offer
Cheapest is not the same as best fit. Antigua has no US E-2 treaty, so it is not the route if you plan to run a business in the United States, and Grenada is the only Caribbean program that offers that access. Antigua passports give visa-free access to around 145 or more destinations, including the Schengen Area and the United Kingdom, in line with the other Caribbean programs.
2026 rules to plan around
Antigua and Barbuda is one of the five Caribbean programs overseen by ECCIRA. The new framework brings a harmonised $200,000 minimum, mandatory interviews and enhanced due diligence, and the five governments have agreed in principle to a 30-day physical presence requirement during the first five years of citizenship. If you are planning for a large family, check how that rule would apply to each member and confirm the start date that applies to your application.
