Saint Kitts & Nevis Citizenship by Investment Now Accepts Cryptocurrency

St Kitts Nevis-Islands

The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) of St Kitts & Nevis now accepts cryptocurrency as a partial source of wealth. This new change gives applicants more flexibility in proving their financial standing. However, applicants must submit additional due diligence fees and wealth verification documentation.

This decision follows Hong Kong’s Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (CIES), which began accepting cryptocurrency earlier this year. Both programs reflect a global shift toward embracing digital assets for wealth verification.

Cryptocurrency Now Valid for Wealth Verification

Previously, applicants had to prove wealth using traditional methods like bank statements and real estate. Now, cryptocurrency holdings are valid for the citizenship application. The new policy offers greater opportunity for cryptocurrency holders to apply. However, applicants must submit detailed verification documents and pay additional due diligence fees.

Sponsorship Policy Changes

The CIU has also updated its sponsorship policy. Now, parents and children of applicants can financially sponsor them. These sponsors must submit comprehensive documents, including application forms and proof of address. Additionally, sponsors will undergo due diligence checks and pay the associated fees.

This change makes it easier for families to apply for citizenship together. Moreover, it provides more options for applicants who need financial support.

New Process for Name Changes

The CIU has stopped processing name changes on Certificates of Registration. Instead, name changes will now happen during passport renewal. Previous name changes will appear on the passport’s observation page. This new process ensures that applicants have a more streamlined experience when updating personal details.
